CHPC ANNOUNCEMENT: Changes to lonepeak general nodes

Date Published: February 8th, 2023

We have started the process of replacing a number of the current lonepeak general nodes with nodes with newer generation cpus (Xeon E5-2697 v2 CPUs @ 2.7Ghz base clock), having more compute cores and more memory per node, thanks to a donation of hardware removed from service by the IT support for the University Hospital.  We are replacing nodes with 12 physical cores and 96 GB memory with nodes that have 24 physical cores and 256 GB memory.

The first batch of 48 of these replacement nodes, lp017-lp064, are now available for use. In the upcoming months we will doing additional node replacements.

Please take the time to adjust your scripts accordingly (in terms of cores and memory being requested) as you make use of the replacement nodes.

If you have any questions or issues, please send a report to helpdesk@chpc.utah.edu.
