Information on new node pricing

CHPC is putting together a purchase of new Kingspeak compute nodes and we wanted to let all groups know of the new node pricing. If any group is interested in purchasing nodes they should let us know and we can combine purchases.
The latest nodes are now equipped with the Intel Broadwell processors. The configuration we have been obtaining quotes have 28 cores. Our preliminary testing shows a performance gain of more than that due to the increased core count (1.28x in performance, versus the 1.16x expected based on the increased core count).
Specifics on the quotes we have in hand (the first price is the price of the node and the $675 is the CHPC addition to cover the per node cost of the IB port and other networking infrastructure:
- R430 server, 28 cores, 128GB memory, 1TB local drive: $5963.36 +$675 = $6638.36
- R430 server, 28 cores, 64GB memory, 1TB local drive: $5400.31 + $675 = $6075.31
